At the start of the new term, we thought about one thing that we would like to get better at this year or that we would like to do differently.  We wrote that goal on a large leaf.  On smaller leaves, we wrote ideas for how we were going to achieve our goals.  The class came up with some really great ideas.

General

  • Listen carefully
  • Concentrate
  • Think positive
  • Believe in myself
  • Try my best
  • Use displays to help
  • Ask for help (teacher or another child)
  • Practice at home
  • Do homework
  • Be interested in it
  • Ask questions

Reading

  • Read books I enjoy
  • Read at home
  • Talk about what I have read

Writing

  • Practise handwriting
  • Write stories at home
  • Check spellings in a dictionary

Maths

  • Learn times tables

Behaviour

  • Ignore silly behaviour

Science – dissolving

September 6th, 2007 by misskprimary in Science · No Comments

Our science topic for the first part of this term is Dissolving.  Today we mixed different solids with water and recorded what happened.

We found that some solids dissolved and formed a clear or coloured solution (they were soluble) and other solids didn’t dissolve and either sank to the bottom or formed a cloudy mixture (they were insoluble).

Welcome back!

It’s the start of a new school year!  I’ve been really pleased with how well 6K have settled.  They are really focused on their learning.  If they keep this up, it will be an excellent year for them.
